Kibum Kim, postdoctoral Fellow

 

Kibum Kim was a senior software engineer/human interaction researcher in the Applied Research Center at Motorola before joining the HML at Queen’s University in June 2010. He received his Ph.D. from the Center for Human Computer Interaction at Virginia Tech, where he worked with Prof. Tatar and Prof. Harrison in the Pragmatics of Education/Emotional Computing (POET) Research Lab.  For his dissertation, he has conducted research in the areas of human-computer interaction (HCI) and computer supported collaborative learning (CSCL) as well as computer supported cooperative work (CSCW), which investigates computer-mediated communications (as with Handheld computers and Tablet PCs). At Motorola, he used Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques for the Topic Detection project. Currently, he is working for the e-textile display and spherical and cylinder display projects at HML.
