Abstract

We present TouchMark, a set of page navigation techniques that preserve some of the physical affordances of paper books. TouchMark introduces physical tabs, one on each side of the display, to enable gestures such as page thumbing and bookmarking. TouchMark can be implemented on a variety of electronic devices, including tablet computers and standard laptops, by augmenting standard hardware with inexpensive sensors.
